Powered by Omnia, this intranet connects the company’s 32,000 employees across 70 countries, providing a centralized platform for company news and collaboration tools. The intranet was implemented remotely in record time, enabling Signify to keep its workforce engaged and updated during a global pandemic.
"Our new group-wide Omnia-based intranet will improve internal communication in all our units throughout the world. It’s a gateway to all relevant company news and collaboration tools, keeping our employees constantly updated about what’s going on locally and globally in an efficient and engaging manner. And this is something that will significantly help us in terms of promoting Signify stories and further improving employee engagement for our various company programs,” says Elise Peursum, Integrated Communications Specialist at Signify.
Signify, a pioneer in lighting technology, with over 32,000 employees across 70 countries, initiated its digital workplace transformation in 2020. Omnia was selected as the platform for the company’s new intranet after a thorough market study, praised for its seamless integration with Microsoft 365 and Teams, along with superior performance and value for money. The implementation, which began in April, was completed by September, fully executed through digital channels due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“It’s an efficient implementation method. Obviously, at some point during the project, it’s good to meet in person just to get to know each other a little better. But it doesn’t have a negative effect on the end result. It’s quite the opposite in fact, as you tend to be more efficient and result-oriented in virtual meetings,” says Project Manager Malin Lindquist.
The new intranet focuses on personalizing the company’s information structure and simplifying navigation to make content more relevant and accessible. Enhancements include a cleaner, more attractive layout, and a revamped news section with both local and global updates. Local stories are now prominently featured on the homepage, boosting engagement.
“Our intranet is now more attractive and tidier, and more to the point. We’ve condensed its content and made its user interface more intuitive and easier to navigate via fewer menus and options,” says Elise.
The improved mobile interface, enabled by Omnia’s responsive design, also ensures that employees can easily stay updated while on the go.
“An improved and more appealing mobile interface will definitely help employees who are on their feet much of the day or who are frequently on the move meeting with clients and business partners,” Elise adds.
The company plans to release an app to further enhance access to internal news and communications tools.
